Married and the father of five children (four surviving), Deacon Kurt was ordained to the diaconate on October 4, 2008 by His Eminence Adam Cardinal Maida. A graduate of the University of Detroit Mercy (B.S., M.B.A., M.A.) and Sacred Heart Major Seminary (M.A.P.S.), Deacon Kurt serves as Associate Dean for Finance and Operations at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Additionally, he is Vice-Chairman of the Board at Alliance Catholic Credit Union. For decades, he served as an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Economics at Oakland University. In 2010, Deacon Kurt founded the online journal, Catholic Journal, where he remains editor.
